Pastor Jerry and Linda Adams came to Gateway Assembly of God in December, 2014 after moving to Southern California from Eastern Pennsylvania. Pastor Jerry is originally from Allentown, PA and Linda from nearby Western New Jersey. Jerry and Linda met in Sunday School class at 12 years old and have been married since 1978. They have two children, daughter, Chara, and son, Jason; as well as four wonderful grandchildren!
Pastor Jerry is an ordained minister with the General Council of the Assemblies of God. He is a graduate of Valley Forge Christian College with a B.S. in Bible and holds an M.Div. in Pastoral Ministry from The Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. He’s also a graduate of the U.S. Army Chaplain School. Pastor Jerry has served in various capacities in ministry as a U.S. Army Chaplain, Teen Challenge Director, and nursing home chaplain. He’s served as pastor of churches in Missouri, Georgia, and Pennsylvania.
In addition to ministry, Jerry has also been in retail management and a small business owner. Jerry and Linda love being in the outdoors and exploring Southern California. Jerry loves to read and is an avid student of American history. He’s also a serious Pittsburgh Steelers fan!
Jerry and Linda are thankful for the call to pastor at Gateway Assembly and are loving the church, the people, and the experience of ministering in Yucca Valley and the high desert. Pastor Jerry is excited about the great things God is doing at Gateway, and the vision He has given for a wonderful future for the church. Jerry has a heart to see people come to Christ, be changed by the power of God, and experience the hope and healing only Jesus can give. He believes God is still in the miracle-business; transforming lives, healing the sick, and restoring the broken. He says, “God restored my life; I know He can do the same for you!” Pastor Jerry warmly welcomes everyone to Gateway Assembly. “There are no perfect people here,” he says, “including me! Jesus loves you just as you are and so do we! Come, and God will do the rest!” Pastor Jerry’s motto in ministry is, “No matter what you face, God can make a way!”
